Production & Behavior

Quiet temperament in the barn. Halter trained and easy to catch.

We regularly walk up to them and put a halter on in the pasture.

Blanket trained—we use horse blankets on our cows so they can enjoy the pasture in all weather.

Used to being milked in a stanchion

Machine milked; still learning to be milked without kicking. We use cow anti-kick rod routinely every milking while she is still learning.

Sunny is currently milking 5 to 6 gallons a day on twice a day milking. Sunny loves to graze and eat hay and baleage. She is currently eating some 16% feed at milking, plus unlimited pasture and high quality alfalfa baleage.

Sunny was confirmed pregnant on 1/19/26. Expect a natural decline in milk volume as her lactation progresses. Please also be realistic about the fact that transport stress, environmental changes, and transitioning to a new feed program will affect her production. We do not guarantee milk volumes after the cow leaves the farm.
